The Oscars are one of the most competitive moments in pop culture—and when our client wanted to break through with some real buzz, they came to us. They were looking to host an Oscars watch party that captured the live excitement of the event while driving real-time engagement across multiple platforms. And since we love helping brands not leave content on the table, we knew we could find a way to capture extra content with added shelf life while we were at it.
The (over) delivery
Nailing DIRECTV’s Oscar Presence
With Rob Lowe cast as the party’s host to create a sense of pop culture nostalgia and feel-good fun, we leveraged his diverse fan base and enduring star power to generate engagement that was way above baseline. With our quick-turn content execution throughout the night, we ensured DIRECTV stayed at the forefront of the conversation, elevating their presence at the Oscars.
A Ratio for Success
By adding our Pop-Up Studio to an already planned event, we tripled DIRECTV's content output. On the day of the Oscars watch party, we delivered 11 dynamic, quick-turn assets—stories, reels, carousels, sizzles, and recaps—that vividly captured the live energy of the event. Then, in a completely separate studio (free from the time stamped trappings of the event decor), we generated an additional 22 evergreen pieces that were rolled out over the next four months. This 1:2 ratio of event to evergreen ensured that the watch party drove immediate buzz, *and* we could keep benefiting from a one night event for weeks to come.
